The Shillian Story:
Ah, the town. Most ancient of any human creation, there are few alive who witnessed its creation. The only thing more remarkable was its creator, Gabriel the Uniter. When he was done with his life’s work, peace reined, people prospered, and learning was at its peak. Even in non-human lands because we could focus on expanding our minds instead of protecting our borders. Ironically, it was this unrestrained exploration of the world that has caused the situation we are now in, but I digress. Gabriel established the town soon after he began his reign of conquest. Now, it stands as the last bastion of civilization in human lands. Built as the first step of his crumbled empire, it’s the last place all the races can gather without fear. The well-trained town guards brook no open fighting and the walls are high enough to repel bands of outlaws. Their biggest fault is that they actively disregard actions outside the town, overbold by their repeated victories over small bands of outlaws. There are a few in the town that recognize the peril abroad in the land. The Mayor is one such fellow so you should pay careful attention to what he says. The Warlock Lord has spies everywhere, so he cannot always disclose his mind in the open. Make no mistake, the Warlock Lord needs the town to continue his domination of the land, and he is focusing his energies there. It is said that the town holds the one thing that can banish the Warlock for eternity.
