Exploring Text: "You are standing in a vast Desert."
The Shillian Story
As you would expect, the desert is a vast, barren wasteland. The sun saps your strength during the day and the night air can chill you to the bone. There are, however, four oases that you can drink from to replenish your strength, if you stumble across one. If you are lucky, you may find some treasure hidden in the ever-moving dunes of sand, but if you are unlucky, you will lose your way and your possessions will become treasure for another adventurer to find.

Before you is a sign which reads:

WARNING!
It is very easy to get lost in the desert.
Bring the right supplies.

Vast Desert Notes:
Ah, the Desert, a popular and overrated place nowadays. It is famous for many things: The Hidden Treasure, the Heat/Cold, the Travelling Merchant, the random directions and the Pyramid. I'll start off with the Hidden Treasure.

Hidden Treasure Notes:
This is a very broad subject to talk about, but basically it comes down to walking through the Desert without a Compass. With a Compass you'll get the true directions, like on the maps. Without one, you'll get random directions, and then you'll be able to find Hidden Treasure. There are many different kinds of treasures, but the most elusive is probably the great Eye of Ra. For more information, check out the special Treasure Hunting Page.

Black Obsidian and Dust
The Black Slime drops Black Dust, and the Obsidian Golem drops Black Obsidian. These are used in the 5th level weapon quests. The Max hits for these monsters is 13500. For directions to them, look at the text map.

Desert Heat & Cold Notes:
The Desert is Cold at Night, or in other words, through 24:00 - 6:00. The Desert is Hot at Midday, or in other words, through 12:00 - 18:00. These times are Shilla-Time, so when it's 14:00 in chat, the Desert will be hot. You should also note that when daylight savings time go in, the times become like this: Cold: 23:00 - 5:00 and Heat: 11:00 - 17:00. The Desert Heat can be decreased by about 50% with an Ankh. An Eye of Ra will completely Nullify both the Heat and Cold. The Cold is reduced by a few pieces of armor.

The Travelling Merchant:
"I am a weary traveling merchant. I make my living finding hidden treasures deep in the desert. But mostly all I have is items from deceased adventurers such as yourself. I like to haggle, but remember, this is how I make my living."
That's how the Travelling Merchant introduces himself. He is found randomly in the Desert. You can Haggle with him, and this can increase or decrease the prices. I personally don't Haggle with him, because when you do it too often, the prices will get more expensive. He sells Ankh, Lightening Ring & Black Amulets. He also sells a Desert Knife, Staff of the Desert Wind, and a Shining Claw. These weapons are generally used for weapon quests for specialties. The food he sells: Bbq Rat Toes, Bear Steak, Dragon Ribs, Golden Showers, Oasis Water, Pegasus Wing, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sparkling Silver. The highlights are green, and those are about the only things that are useful.
You can also train the Treasure Hunting Skill here.

Finding the Pyramid Base:
First of all, have a Compass! Get one in the middle of the Maze. From the Mountain Entrance Teleport Spot, where the Park Ranger is, head: W, S, N, W, S, S,(SE x3), Consider for an East, E, Drink From Oasis, Consider for south, S, (SE x3),(SW x3), Consider for South, S, Drink, Consider for west, W, (NW x7), Consider for North, N, Drink, Consider South, S,(SW x3),(SE x3), Consider for South, S, Drink, Consider for North, N, (NE x2), (SE x2), Consider for South, head south. You are now standing on the Great Pyramid Base Spot.

Entering the Pyramid:
First of all, find the Pyramid Base. Use the previous step. The spot you are now on will be either a E/W spot or a N/S spot. Consider until you get the N/S spot. Click North. You will now be either:
1) Back in the Desert. If this happens find the Pyramid Base by yourself again. To find the Pyramid Base again, use these directions: From the Warning Spot of the Desert: South, Southwest(x5), Southeast(x5), Consider until you get a South. Head South.
2) You are at a spot with East/West/South directions. Consider until you get a North direction also. Head north into the Pyramid.
3) You are at a spot with East/West/South/North directions. Head north into the Pyramid.

The Pyramid Itself:
Since that's another area, and a large one, it has it's own page where more is explained about the Earth Guardian and other creatures.
