The things you can do with gold..
So now you're training in the Ogre Cave. You've gotten a great boost, and you can expect the next boost to be way further in the game. You're going to have to work yourself up. Depending on your Charisma, you're going to need anywhere around 1 million gold. Yes you need THAT much, although with alot of Chr, it might be 700k, or something. You'll need this money to buy your next weapon-in-line, the Elven Bow. First of all, you should ask someone to send one to you, but only if you have 1500 Wall Score. If you're an Ogre, Dwarf, Draconian or Orc, and perhaps I missed another race, then you'll need 10% more WS, thus 1650 WS. You'll need to get it sent, since it saves you incredibly much money. From this moment on, there isn't much you can do. You need to train in the Ogre Cave up to the point where you can afford your bow out. So start raising Charisma only. The Elven Bow NEVER misses, and has an average attack Strength of 3500! It's been the best weapon in the game for quite some time. Enough reasons to spend that much money on it. It might occur that you are able to fight in the DDF, the Deep Dark Forest, after a while. This is better experience and gold than the Ogre Cave, so if you can 1-rd there, you should fight there. Most of the time people go there after getting out their Elven Bow though. It all depends on Charisma now, so raise it skyhigh. Don't worry about your other stats for now, because the Bow will make up for them, and when you get to better areas it's better exp as well, making other stats easier to boost. Other than this bright future, there isn't much else to be said about this part. You need to get that bow out, and it's going to take some time before you will be able to do so. Just in case you were having any doubts: Do not die after getting your bow! Please. =) Mages will also be fighting with a JEW, which raises the question when they'll be able to fight with a mana weapon again. As usual, the Mages will have a tricky time to get their weapon, but there are two options: The first one is to get 1550 WS (or more, depending on your race), and then get the Iron Baton sent to you. It will cost you a real smack of money I suppose, but you'll just have to raise your Chr, like fighters. The Iron Baton is a really good mana weapon, though. The other option is, and I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone, to enter the Maze with 250 Int, search inside the Inner Maze for a Black Maze Reaper, and kill a bunch of them to get a Shining Claw. Trust me, that takes a long while, and the Shining Claw isn't better than the Iron Baton. You can also go for a compromis... get a Shining Claw sent to you at 1500 WS.
The Deep Dark Forest & The Elves
There is alot to be discovered in Shilla, and you're close to the point that you can do some important things. I prefer a little training first, so you can get your Life a little bit higher, your Dex higher, and your Mana somewhat higher. You'll want to raise Wisdom too, in order to get more locations to teleport to, with your teleport spell. The next area after this one for you to train is the Dungeon, but the creatures are quite a bit stronger, and you'll need some equipment for the future areas as well.. When you've finally bought your Elven Bow out of the Traders, it's time to move on to the DDF, the Deep Dark Forest. You'll need 220 Int, so get that. With the bow you should be able to 1-rd here.. if not, don't worry. In this forest, there's also an Elven Village, called Yggdrasil. It's toward the south, and you'll notice a sign that enemies are attacked on sight, like with the Dwarven Stronghold, and Necropolis, as with any other village. I told you to kill only a few Elfs, right? You can check how many Elf kills you have, south of the fountain in Shilla Town. You can also check which quests you have, and look at your kills list, by the way. If you have only a few Elf kills (up to 99) you won't have any problem entering the Elven Village. If you have more kills (100-199) you'll need a certain amount of Charisma to enter, I would say 300 Charisma to be safe. If you have 200-299 kills, etc, you'll need more Chr, like 400, or 500. Always round numbers. Anyway, you should have little kills, so you can enter. There is a lot to do in this village, so I'll take you on a tour, where you'll certainly need a Map. If you have some money, and I'm pretty sure you don't, after buying your Elven Bow, you can buy various items. But let's go through them, because you have the DDF right next to you, where you can train, and upgrade your character with several cool gadgeds. The base of the Tree is looks pretty cool with the picture, but the donations are useless. The cheapest does nothing, the most expensive one heals you fully, and the one in-between lets you rest under the tree (healing/sleeping like under the fountain). There are better things to do: You can buy Green Rings, which are the best rings for a fighter for quite a long time, as they give 25 Str and 40 Dex, each. That's the best next thing to buy: Green Rings. The weapon shop has weapons, but the Elven Bow is still the best. The food shop sells food which you don't need now. You can get Sparkling Silver from Archers and Imps in the DDF, and it's good enough. The Spell Shop.. ahh, that's right. Elven Magic is the finest Magic in shilla, and even as a fighter you'll need some of it. The spell Bedazzle is a real life safer, as it will make your enemies miss some for a max of 66% of their attacks when the spell is active. When you cast it, it has a time duration, and in the field it says you have it active. It turns yellow when there's less than 3 minutes active, and red when there's less than 1 minute left, so you better recast it then. I would say, get some experience to train Bedazzle to level 300, a good basic level. Since a thing was changed, you must keep an eye on Bedazzle, and train about +100 levels in it everytime you go to a different area. Remind yourself to do that, as it'll save your life many times. Magic Shield works sort of the same as Bedazzle, with also a time duration. It gives protection against creature hits. You can see it as a very powerful armor when it's active. If a Shimmering Cloak has a defense of, say 7 defense, Magic Shield has a defense of 10 at level 30 or so. And a defense of around 100 at level 300. That defense can sometimes save your life, because if a creature has 3 attacks, Magic Shield can protect you from 3x100 damage. Train Magic Shield to a decent level of 200, if you have the patience. If not.. then.. still do it. Oh, and don't bother with Acid Cloud, it's junk for you. There's more to do in Yggdrasil. You can visit the Storyteller.. who has alot of inside-info of all the areas of Shilla, but just the ones you have been to, so read along and learn from him.. Now we've pretty much done most of the things here .. but not everything yet. If you joined the Fighter Guild, and I'm pretty sure you did, then you should check out the Ranger Guild. It's a speciality guild where you can master yourself into the Ranged Weapons. Hey, isn't that an Elven Bow you're holding? The Ranger Guild isn't on the map, which I apologize for. The maps aren't all completely up-to-date.. anyway, the directions to the Ranger Guild, from the entrance of the Elven Village, where you also see the sign of "Enemies will be attacked on sight" are: West(x2), South(x2), West, North(x2), West(x2), North. You can only advance as far as you advanced into the Fighter Guild, so if you've done 2 quests, you can only do 2 quests here too. More info is available on the Guilds Page. You should note that you can also choose a different way, with a different weapon: The Rod of Destiny. Then don't join the Ranger Guild. You can get the ROD at 1750 WS or more, and you must die to get into Necropolis, and into Limbo. It's a great weapon with 6k average damage, but you can also wait until later. Lastly, sometimes you'll find a Golden Treasure Chest in the Elven Village. You'll find a very rare Elven Food called either Yggdrasil Berry or Leaf. Don't specifically go search for it, cause you don't need it, but should you find it, try asking in chat if someone needs it, because they might. You could make someone very happy.
As for mages, well, I don't have much to add. The tour stays almost the same, obviously, but you might want to train more into the spells. Also don't bother with Acid Cloud, it's just not good enough to be of use. Don't get the Green Rings, but stick with your Ring of Bones. You can consider buying an Elven Broach or Crystal Clear Amulet, which give great stats, but also cost alot. You will need your money sooner or later for the next weapon, so keep that in mind when you want to buy one of them. As a mage, you'll want to check out the Mana Weaponeers Guild, which is located at the Spells Shop, sorta. Furthermore, just train in the DDF.
From DDF to the next area
Now that you've had that tour, it's time to get the money for the things you want, and the exp for the spells. And don't forget to spend your exp on dex and chr, to make things cheaper, and getting yourself more and more attacks. You can also consider beating some pearl droppers, like Quetzalcoatl (The Pit), Kraken (Lake Gala corners), Unicorn (Druid Keep entrance), Tortured Criminal (Dungeons Cells), and the Green Nymph (Maze dead ends). I wouldn't try the Nymph, personally, because that armor isn't all that great .. and it can take hours. Also beware of the other three, as they might hit you pretty hard. When you're weak against one, I advise for 1325+ Life. You must have 2k WS to see some of them, except Quetzalcoatl, I think. As for other armor, like Red or Aqua, don't waste your money on it. You've got Magic Shield, which is better than any armor defends for in the game.
Getting to the next area will take some time, but then again it can be fun too, to check the Elven Village out, and get new stuff all the time, and perhaps do some Ranger Quests. The next area is technically the Inner Maze, located north of the Outskirts. But often people skip this area, because it takes so long to get to the Inner Maze, and train there. The Dungeons is the area after the Inner Maze, and also a great training place, so that's where you might want to go next. You can check out the Maze, sure, and if you can 1-rd there, try for a while, but the Dungeons is where you should be aiming for. 290 Int, and a crapload of Dex is what you'll need. You can probably try to take a shot at the Mermaid Hunter too, by now, which is quest that comes after saving the King. He's Fire align, so if you're Water you'll be strong, if you're Earth or Fire you'll be neutral, and if you're Air .. you'll be weak. So get 1050 Life normally, and if to be safe, if you're weak, 1150-1200. Don't forget to kick-in your Bedazzle and Magic Shield.
I've waited quite long with the quest, because it's reward is pretty worthless: You only get 20 QP, which only add to your Wall Score, and you get a Mermaid Scale that lets you swim in the Ocean (much later on in the game). Perhaps the Mermaid's kiss will make something up..? Since your next area is basically the Dungeons, you might as well get the 290 Int for it, so you can do another quest. A side-quest, this time. Banish the Death Reaper. This quest can be gotten from the Town Guard that stands on the Manhole leading to the sewers. You only get it if you have 300 Int and 300 Wis though .. so .. you'll need to raise those stats if you want to do the quest. I wouldn't do this quest too soon, by the way, because it's not worth dying for. You only get 20 QP again, so you might as well wait until you're already training in the Dungeons. I'm just telling you it's possible to do right now. Train some more, and when you can 1-rd the Dungeons, or at least pretty much, read on.. for the next quest.
Mages have had a pretty hard time, I know. But there's a bright side too: You've got loads of Intelligence, or at least you're supposed to, since it's your attacks too. That means you can get to alot of areas that Fighters can't get to yet.. Such as the Plains (430 Int) and the Desert (590 Int). In the Plains (located in Vast Valley) is the Halfling Shire, a Village that randomly appears in about the middle of the Plains with a sign too. It can be entered easily, just bring a bunch of different food kinds with you: Halflings like a variety of food. Having 15 should be safe. In this Shire you can get Amulets and Rings sent to you, so that's good for mages. If you want something, you can ask for it, and perhaps get a discount here. The other area, the Vast Desert, is also located in the Vast Valley, but it isn't that easy to enter. Use these exact directions, starting from the Mountain Entrance teleport spot, also the spot with the Park Ranger: West, South, North, West, South. The Desert holds various treasure.. and being a mage, you'll in particular want the Engagement Rings (+500 Chr and +10 Dex). If that caught your attention, use the Treasure Hunting Page for more information about finding treasure in the Desert. Also.. the Travelling Merchant sells an Ankh (+150 Int, +150 Wis). You should definately GET that thing. It helps ALOT. You can buy it from the merchant, or just ask someone to send it to you, so you can pick it up at the Halfling Trader.
Move on to the Veteran Guide.
